Is it just me or does anyone else think it’s pathetic that the only way to get the Federal government to defend our borders against illegal immigration is for STATES to enforce the Federal laws our government won’t? After years of watching crime escalate on the border many states have tired of endless calls for action from those in Washington. Along comes a Governor worth her weight in salt who says enough and takes the only step available to her. Governor Brewer should be hailed as a Leader on the issue of illegal immigration. She is certainly not racist as many on the left are trying to brand her and anyone else in support of the new AZ law.

On my twitter page I noted that liberals such as Al Sharpton have used the Race card so often it’s now faded from Black to Brown.  Clearly, this is NOT a question of race but a question of legal versus illegal. There are thousands of foreigners who come to the US seeking to become citizens each year and they do so legally. All we are asking is that those in Mexico follow the path that is legally required for them to become productive law abiding citizens. I mean, doesn’t the expression “Law Abiding Citizen” have a place in America anymore? Since when do we allow cheaters to cut to the front of the line without any consequences for their behavior? Many would argue that these illegal immigrants aren’t criminals but mere men and women seeking a better life for their families. However, this ignores one major point of fact, by violating our border laws they have broken the law and are therefore by definition, “Criminals”.

I realize that many on the left especially, will decry this categorizing of illegal immigrants as criminal as more evidence of racism. That tactic is simply ill informed and lacking in substance. How can the left ignore the situation in Juarez, MX which neighbors El Paso, TX? They have had estimates of 400 to 5000 women disappear and end up murdered since 1993. To date these murders and kidnappings have gone unsolved. Many Mexican residents of Juarez believe it is unsolved because their own police officers are behind the murders. How’s that for safety? Next since 2006 there have been over 19,000 murders in the so called “Drug War” That is significantly more than all deaths from all nations involved in both the Iraq War, the Afghanistan War, and the 9/11 attacks. The most shocking thing about that number is that the Mexican government says the high number of deaths shows they are making progress?! Well if that’s progress I hope they keep that progress in Mexico and it doesn’t spill into the USA. We have enough to handle without adding that sort of progress to our menu.

As a home owner and former resident of El Paso, TX I can tell you I’m glad to be able to say “Former” and not current resident. I visited Juarez on three different occasions and have had numerous friends travel there as a part of their normal routine. Those friends no longer make those routine trips and I haven’t been back into Juarez since 2007 and have no immediate or future plans to ever return. So, I am 100% behind the state of AZ in their efforts to protect the citizens of their state and our nation from violence and crime in general.

The federal government under both Republican and Democratic control has passed the buck of immigration reform for far too long. Political expediency has come at a high cost for those living along the border and for our nation as a whole since illegal immigration leads to job loss among Americans seeking unemployment, especially in the construction industry. If the government would at least truly penalize companies who hire illegal’s I think it would be a step in the right direction. Many may not agree with the steps taken by AZ and it’s Governor Brewer..but a step forward is better than standing idly by as illegal immigrants and potentially violent extremist pour into our country through the porous border with Mexico. We’ve tried standing by and doing nothing for twenty years..let’s give AZ’s radical law a chance!

Dear Fellow Americans,

If you are an American who is frustrated with the spending in Washington DC and the refusal of elected officials to represent the Will of the People, then let your voices be heard at TeaParty's planned around the country! This is a non-partisan group who started having their fill long before President Obama took office! We were fed up with the spending and lunacy of George Bush also and had already put things in motion to stop his 'Bailout Bill". Many on the left and on TV seem to be trying to make this a racial/divisive group but I know from all my dealings that is NOT true. I am not a racist and have NO..absolutely ZERO tolerance for anyone who is and so do all the other members I am affiliated with in the Teaparty.

Regardless of whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent..you are welcomed to join our call for government to be fiscally responsible and stop the out of control spending and inevitable taxation that will be used in an attempt to pay for poorly planned social entitlements! We DO NOT wish to see violence or attempt to incite violence. Any actions that appear to do so will not be supported or tolerated by the Teaparty movement members.

Please be civil to anyone who disagrees with you or me. My response to members of the liberal left who call me racist or say we are destroying our country...is to recite a quote from Voltaire, "I do not agree with a word you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." That sums up all I need to respond to any attempts to anger me or start an argument that isn't of value. If someone wants to debate on the merits of a particular point then know your facts and sources and stick to those while leaving personal attacks OUT!

For more information on how or where to go to get involved with the Teaparty check out the website www.teapartypatriots.org

God Bless America and the Patriots who first founded it and the ones now fighting to keep us Strong,
Shannon

You would have to live far in the hills of some backward community to have never heard about the escalating debt of the United States. And even if you had not heard about the debt you would not be able to escape the debilitating pain this debt has caused to our economy.  The focus of the Obama administration towards debt has been to blame it on the previous Bush Administration. Well, I once heard a proverb that said if you aren’t apart of the solution you are just another part of the problem. Mr. Obama we need solutions not scapegoats! But partisanship aside I fear the real issue about US debt is not merely how much we owe in total but how much of that debt we owe to China.

For far too long we have been robbing Peter to pay Paul and now we are essentially borrowing money from China to give to Peter, so we can then rob him, to pay Paul. If that sounds crazy or ridiculous to you, we are both on the same page. China currently owns approximately 80 percent of the total US debt and yet we continue to borrow from them as if we are never going to be required to repay this money. So, let’s consider that we will in fact have to begin repaying this money soon. How on earth are we to repay a debt to a country that over the past several years has held a trade embargo against United States goods while forcing US Manufacturers to kowtow before their cheaper Chinese products? We cannot make money to repay our debt if we have no population to which to sell our goods.

According to the World Fact book which is maintained by the CIA, the United States is currently listed at the bottom of all nations in terms of national debt rankings. This means out of all the countries in the world, including North Korea, Iran, and every country in Africa and around the world the US has more debt than anyone else. Ironically, the nation to whom we owe the most in debt is the country which holds the least amount of debt themselves. Yes, China is the top country with the least amount of national debt. Let me say that again, China is ranked FIRST and the USA is ranked LAST!

If you still do not see a problem with the current relationship to China and our debt let me mention the military prowess of China.  In 2007 China launched a missile into space that destroyed a communication satellite. The most worrisome aspect of this story is that it took nearly two weeks before their defense ministry even responded to having done so. Then their Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, “This test was not directed at any country and does not constitute a threat to any country.” Across the western military intelligence agencies and some in Asia, there was nearly an audible “Yet” uttered at the conclusion of that statement. China has made great leaps in their military defense capabilities. Not the least of which would include the number of members in their defense department. Then last year a Chinese analyst named Li Qiulin (a prominent member of the PLA-Peoples Liberation Army in China) “urged the PLA to bolster its ability to project force in South Asia”(FP p.87).

Currently China has approximately 2.2 million defense members or armed forces, while the USA has only 1.4 million members.  That number may not seem significantly large enough to cause consternation but let us not forget that while we have a population of around 300 million from which to draw additional forces from, the Chinese also have 300 million plus one BILLION more!  But the United States still has the best equipped and capable military force in the world. (Here’s where the debt really comes into play)

You have all heard that there are two ways to deal with this type of debt, you can raise taxes or cut spending. President Obama has sworn to only raise taxes on the top 5% of Americans and even though that number will undoubtedly grow; I believe he will still be forced to cut spending. So, do you suppose that social programs like Welfare, Social Security, and the new Health Care (all darlings of the Democratic Party, coincidentally in charge at the moment) are going to be cut? No, of course not. The areas that are likely to see the first cuts will be in places such as the defense department. In 2009 the United States spent $738 billion dollars on defense while the estimates for China range from $69.5 to $150 billion.

So clearly the US is far outspending China on defense and we should not be worried about their growth in defense spending, as it is meager when compared to our own, right? Wrong! According to Foreign Policy’s article “the United States last year had 285,773 active-duty personnel deployed around the world. China on the other hand has no overseas bases and only a handful of PLA personnel stationed abroad in embassies, on fellowships, and in the U.N. peacekeeping operations”(p.88) Now here is where reason and common sense have to meet. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that one of the most expensive things a standing army has to do is to supply troops when they are deployed. It’s even more expensive when those troops are involved in two ongoing wars. So, the vast majority of the 2009 defense budget was being spent to supply and support the deployed troops and the two wars rather than to develop or even maintain military weaponry.  China, on the other hand, had to devote virtually NONE of their defense budget to such costly ventures and instead had all their resources geared toward military advances and defense growth, not mere supply and support.

Now what style of government do they practice in China? If you said communism you are a winner! The Chinese Communist Party is the government in charge in Beijing. Now, at least for the moment, what style of government do we practice in the United States of America? If you said a Democracy…you would be wrong! We are a Constitution based Federal Republic..with Strong Democratic traditions. Now, if you know anything about how these two types of governments relate you will know that they are in almost complete opposition of one another. In fact, we spent many years fighting the evils of Communism in the hopes that it would collapse and disappear completely as the failure it has proven to be repeatedly. However, the fall of the Berlin wall and the Soviet Union did not lead to the 1980’s-90’s Domino effect Reagan and others had hoped for.  So, if we spent so many years and billions of dollars during the Cold War fighting communism why did we turn and embrace a communist nation beginning just when it appeared to be on the collapse? Let’s pause and think who was in office when the Berlin Wall came down? I do believe it was Bush 41. And in 1989, the same year the Wall came down, we saw the Tiananmen Square uprisings in Beijing brutally suppressed by the Chinese military.  The US and China certainly weren’t close allies then…

Then came 1992 and the election of a Democrat to office in the White House…a guy who lasted two terms and managed to give just about as much as he could to the Chinese without the American public being made aware. We suddenly found that it was OK to sell our best computer technologies to China and a new relationship was born. Never mind that there had been no regime change in China and they remained steadfastly Communist and in stark comparison to democratic nations around the world.  President Bill Clinton made his famous trip to China and the USA was suddenly friendly with a country that’s ideals were anything but similar to our own.  I would follow the old advice to “Keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer” but I’ve never heard of “Borrow from your enemies”. Perhaps I’m the only person who sees that as a possible contradiction in commonsense.

Now 80 percent of things like toys that we Americans buy in US stores are no longer produced in America, by Americans but are produced in China, by Chinese. Remember when Wal-Mart use to proclaim the “Made In America” brand? Guess who now pushes for the largest number of Chinese goods to be sold in America? You guessed it, Wal-Mart. I recently gave my senior high government students an assignment to locate three products, not food stuffs that were made in the United States. Out of 76 students in three classes only four students were able to find two products, 59 students found one product, and none found all three Made In America products. The group searched in a combined 112 stores both locally owned and several national retail chains. That says more about the condition of our country than any debt clock we have running today.

So in conclusion, I would hope you will take some time to research the growth of the Chinese market, the growth of the US-China debt, the increase in the advances made by the Chinese military, and note the following stories reported in the Foreign Policy issue mentioned earlier:

“Late in 2008 China dispatched a three-ship task force to the African coast to conduct anti-piracy missions and escort vessels through pirate infested waters off the coast of Somalia. It was the first time in modern history that Chinese military vessels-in this case, two destroyers and a supply ship-had deployed outside local waters, armed and ready for combat. ….It has now deployed its forth task force, demonstrating its ability to maintain a presence for an extended time”( p. 88). I will leave it to you to determine what this all means for the future of America and it’s people.

The latest mantra of the liberal party is to call anyone and everyone who doesn't join with their world view, a racist. Don't like the health care law just passed by President Obama..well that means you are a racist. Don't like the idea of paying more taxes such as will be introduce with the VAT..well that means you are a racist. Having a hard time believing the President when he says that he will be more transparent than previous administrations, even though all evidence currently suggests the opposite?..Well that means you are a racist. Angry about the constant spending going on in DC and the lack of attention to the need for Jobs in America? Well, that means you are a racist. Do you disagree with the decision to grant individuals who attempt to kill Americans with the use of terrorist tactics, lawyers and access to civilian courts, when military courts could and have provided justice more safely and at a far less expensive price to tax payers..Well, you may have guessed it already, but that would make you (say it with me)a Racist!
How about those of you who want Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi..both Caucausians fired from their current positions or even from congress? Surprise, surprise..not only are you a racist somehow, but you are also a dangerous likely terrorist who at any moment will commit a violent act.
Let's see what Webster defines as a racist? "1. a belief that race is the primary determinate of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race." Gee, I don't see how disagreeing with health care, excessive spending, or more taxes fits anywhere in that definition.
So, I'm going to have to say that the current use of the term "racist" is inaccurate at best. As the individuals who are throwing this term out constantly, are all educated and somewhat respected members of society it bears questioning what they are doing misrepresenting this term? Could it be that they have ulterior motives? Let me present another question for consideration. If John McCain had won the election and was passing legislation and spending against the will of the majority of the American people and we took a poll that showed 90% of white Americans still supported him, what would the minority groups like the NAACP, Hispanic groups, Asian American groups, among others say that number suggested? I think it would be a loud shout of "racism"...particularly if the groups those whites were apart of...such as the Republican or Democratic parties showed a supporting percentage of say only 60% or 70%. Then how could another 30% or 40% of whites have any other claim for supporting him other than his race?
Yet we see that President Obama enjoys a 90% plus approval rating among black Americans and no one questions the motivation for that number? It doesn't matter that his own party has not given him that high of a mark since he took office. However, I assure you that my merely possing this question will lead to some if not all on the left calling me a racist for having the audacity to ask such a question. I am not afraid. I will question with boldness and without fear of retribution. This is still America and I wore the uniform of my country to defend the rights of each of us to speak. I even defend the right of those on the left to call me a racist, although it is clearly unfounded.
Racist..it's not just for bigots, Klansmen, or Neo Nazi's anymore...if you question the left..it is now for you.

My heart is heavy with the division in my country. Today I see anger erupting on both sides of the isle and even though I recognize some of the anger as righteous, it is no less disheartening. We are nearer today to a New Civil War in America than at any time since the first Civil War. Red states and Blue states are lining up to take their appropriate sides on the issue of Health Care and whether it is Constitutional or not and if believed not, then Attorney Generals or Governors are moving to challenge the laws Constitutionality.
Brothers and sisters are choosing their sides and they are not always the same. Life long friends are suddenly discovering that they no longer share the same attitudes that brought them together as friends. Name calling, deception, riducule, and threats of violence with hints of actual violence are evident in even the highest office in the land. Our nation is a volcano about to erupt and I fear that without some return to moderation and civility, we will see blood shed on a national level not witnessed before, in any of our lifetimes.
Democrats seem to think that the Conservative movement, comprised of groups like the Tea party, FreedomFighters, and even small grassroots causes such as my own, NovemberRevolution 2010, Dems seem to believe we are not serious. They are under the allusion that somehow we will forget come November that this President has defied every call for restraint the majority has made. We were confident after the win in Mass. that he had heard our voices at last, but quickly learned he had turned a deaf ear to our cries. We thought in April of 2009 that the Teaparty movement would be seen as a stark reminder that WE the PEOPLE are in charge of how much money we want to give away. Again, our President and Democratic congress turned a blind eye. Some refused to acknowledge we had marched at all, and when they were forced to admit some groups had gathered..the numbers were severly under-represented.
So where does this lend itself to take our nation next. I say we are on the precipice of a great fall into violent uprisings. Perhaps not in the next year or even two but if matters continue to spiral out of control as many on the right precieve them to be..it is inevitable that Americans will once again rise to face tyranny and fight for the freedoms our nation was founded upon.
I do not advocate violence, and as I have outlined in my cause, we plan to use democratic means currently at our disposal to undo this tide of injustice. Our motto is "Ballots Not Bullets" to drive home our non-violent view. Yet I cannot shake the eerie sense of foreboding that lingers in the air when I hear Pelosi or President Obama cast warnings about how certain "speech" can lead to violence. I say, not certain "speech" but rather certain "limit's of Speech" will in fact lead to violence. Government can bring about the same affect as silence by simply ignoring the speech of the people. What good is the freedom to speak if the people intended to hear are refusing to listen?
It is this point that I think President Obama, Pelosi, and Reid had better consider long and hard before they continue with the current policy. If they truly want to see change in our country, they may well get more than they bargined for when the silence becomes deafening. It is the silence before the storm that gives the best warning to brace for a violent upheavel. I pray come November 2010, we see a movement in this country that stalls such a storm and instead offers the shelter of a new majority whose eyes are opened to see all and whose ears are tuned to listen to all.
